Configuring PPTP VPN Connection for Ubuntu OS

This article will help you learn how to install and configure PPTP VPN connection on Ubuntu OS.

To install and configure PPTP VPN connection on Ubuntu OS, follow the steps:

  1. Open the network connection settings in the upper right corner of your desktop and click Connection Options.

  2. In the opened window, click + to add a new VPN configuration.

  3. Select Point-to-point tunneling protocol (PPTP).

  4. In the next window, enter the VPN connection parameters:
    1. In the Name field, enter any name for the connection, for example, "BIGBANG VPN".
    2. In the Gateway field enter the server address (VPS),
    3. In the Username and Password fields, write the access information from the message that you received by email when the service is activated.

  5. You can also find PPTP access information in your client area.
    1. In your client area, find the My Services tab.
    2. Click Manage.

    3. In the Access section, find the PPTP L2TP settings.

    4. Download access information there.

  6. To enter a password, click the question mark at the end of the Password field.
  7. Select Remember password for this user only or Remember password for all users. Otherwise, you need to enter your password every time you connect to the VPN.
  8. Click Add to save the created VPN connection.

  11. In the VPN Connection menu in the upper right corner of your desktop, click Connect to connect quickly to VPN.
